Dates: Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th July 2025

Time: 10am to 3pm

Enquiries: amanda@terrarossa.biz

Venue: Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, 27 Popran Road, Adamstown

This course requires a minimum of 4 participants to proceed.

In this two day workshop learn the process of reduction lino printing, a technique that allows you to create multi-coloured prints from a single block.

The reduction method involves carving away parts of the block after each ink layer, making it a unique and exciting way to create depth and colour variation in your artwork. In this hands-on class, you will carve your image into the lino block, ink your block, register each layer, and run it through the press to create your prints.

Everything is provided so there's no need to buy materials or equipment.

We'll cover different carving techniques, talk about paper registration and editioning. By the end of the course you will have printed a small edition of your prints ready for framing, to make greetings cards, give as presents or swap with others in the class.

No experience us needed but if you have some lino printing knowledge this will be helpful and a great opportunity to try something new.

This workshop is suitable for adults/18 years old and above.

Materials: All materials are included. There will be a short lunch break each day - please bring something with you. Tea and coffee are provided.

What students need to bring: Think about some ideas for your print. Lino printing is a bold graphic medium so bear this in mind with your image - email me with your ideas beforehand if you want. Bring something for lunch, wear enclosed shoes and bring an apron or wear old clothes.

This course requires 4 participants to proceed.

Covid Safety: Due to NPW’s Covid Policy participants must sign in, wash or sanitise their hands immediately upon entering the workshop and maintain physical distancing whenever possible during class. If you have COVID-19 symptoms, have visited a COVID case location, or have been directed to isolate, you must not attend class.
