Welcome to an immersive experience created by Fatima Measham, with visual and audio components that interact, and together complicate the narrative about our relationship with the local landscape. Sanctuary is an artistic response to the early history of Serendip, a beloved institution for many families in the area. It is an invitation to consider the light and shadow of our interactions with nature, and the idea of malleable stories.
The experience includes digital illustrations by Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Chloe Chatterton, as well as an audio loop featuring nature soundscapes, a spoken piece by Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Anie Skinner, and clips from interviews with former Serendip manager, Don White.
