Saturday PermaBee
Event description
March 2025Â
Permabee Seed Ball Extravaganza!
Join us for a hands-on, earth-loving workshop where we'll transform tiny seeds into green grenades of potential! Making seed balls -- seeds covered in clay -- is an ancient technique popularised by natural farming pioneer Masanobu Fukuoka. Whether you're dreaming of revegetating a bare patch of land, wanting to gift nature to friends, or simply curious about guerrilla gardening, this session is your gateway to spreading the botanical love.
What to Expect:
Explore the various seeds you can use
Learn the best seasons to plant in
Discover the art of creating seed balls
Understand the importance of using native seeds in our local ecosystem
Connect with fellow green-thumbed community members and get grotty!
Bring: Your favourite seeds (native Australian preferred -- Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub even better!)
Your enthusiasm
Wear old clothing, it's going to get messyÂ
Gloves if you have them.
No experience necessary - we'll provide the know-how and materials to turn your seeds into resilient, deployable green miracles!
Date: Saturday, 8 March
Time: 10 am-12
Permabee sessions
The above activity is part of a regular gardening session at the hub on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Come help us plant, weed, and compost under expert guidance. Each month we'll have a specific topic that you can learn about.Â
Bring your own gloves if you have them.
There are different areas in the award-winning Randwick Sustainability Hub to work in depending on your interests and expertise - from fruit and veg growing to native habitat and bush tucker. Free Permabee sessions also run every Friday, to book click here.Â
