Screenwriting: Idea To Screen with Stephen M. Irwin

Immerse in an intensive day learning how to bring an idea to the screen.
Do you have a project or idea that you think could make a great movie or TV show? Spend a day with showrunner Stephen M. Irwin (‘Harrow’, ‘Tidelands’) and learn in a writers-room type setting how to dig the gold from your nugget of an idea and shape it into a format that is ready to pitch to television and cinema decision-makers.
Learning outcomes
You will expand your knowledge of how to create a pitch-worthy idea in the following key areas:
- A deeper dive into the fundamentals of storytelling
- Explore the essential elements that “hook” through a logline
- Drill into television and cinema building blocks
- Discuss what steps to take after you have your perfect elevator pitch.
Format
This is an in-person workshop with a focus on craft; it will be held in-person at Queensland Writers Centre, State Library of Queensland. As a Level 1 workshop, it is suitable for all committed writers.
