_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Sewing Basics I: Sept 14th 5-8pm • $30

In this class, students will learn the fundamental skills necessary to begin sewing on a commercial home sewing machine. We’ll review necessary sewing tools and how to use them, discuss different fabric types, learn how to identify the grainlines and the bias, and learn the anatomy of a sewing machine. By the end of the class, students will know how to thread a machine and know the basic stitches needed to complete a simple sewing project: The Basic Tote Bag. Join us to develop new skills, meet other sewists just starting out, and take home a tote bag made with your own two hands (and a machine)!

All tools and materials provided. No experience needed. Ages 14+.

Sewing Basics II: Sept 28th 5-8pm • $35 (RESCHEDULED FROM SEPT. 21ST)

In Part II of our Sewing Basics Series, students will learn advanced beginner sewing skills in order to confidently complete a beginner/intermediate sewing project. We’ll review different stitches available on a typical commercial sewing machine (and their uses), various sewing feet and how/when to use them, and advanced seam finishes. In this class, we'll also cover how to read a sewing pattern in order to finish a sewing project. By the end of the class, students will apply these skills to complete a sewing project: A Reusable Lunch Bag. Join us and build on your sewing skills, meet other sewists just starting out, and take home a brand new lunch bag made with your own two hands (and a machine)!

All tools and materials provided. Prerequisite: Sewing Basics I or familiarity with basic sewing machine anatomy and use (e.g., how to thread a sewing machine, how to wind and insert a bobbin). Ages 14+.
