Event description

How do race and gender intersect to impact the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds? What are the special considerations when working with CALD women on SRH issues?

This FREE workshop delves into the unique challenges faced by CALD women in achieving sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing. You will hear directly from CALD women as they share their experiences accessing SRH services, along with three guest speakers sharing their insights working with CALD women.

By attending, you will:

  • Gain insights into the intersectionality of race, gender and culture, understanding how they shape the SRH needs and health outcomes of CALD women.
  • Hear practical strategies to provide more inclusive, empathetic, and culturally appropriate SRH care to CALD women.
  • Discover why hepatitis is more prevalent in CALD communities and explore culturally relevant strategies to address prevention and treatment.
  • Have an opportunity to network with speakers and peers over a lunch (provided).

Speakers include:

  • CALD women representatives
  • Alexandria Somirs - Training Officer, Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health
  • Yuqian He - Community Engagement & Project Officer, Multicultural Health & Support Service
  • Jon Kok - Workforce Development, LiverWell
