SIRF CIWG |Achieving Continuous Improvement without Authority
Event description
The Role of A Continuous Improvement Leader Is A Tough One!
It’s the classic set up for most companies attempting continuous improvement:
- Create a new role of “Continuous Improvement Leader” or “Lean Leader” or “Black Belt”
- Place this new role outside the management structure
- Make them responsible for achieving goals
- Give them no authority to change ANYTHING
Responsibility with no Authority pretty much describes every PD for CI Leaders. If you don’t struggle with it now, just wait!
In a way, this structure makes sense, as CI Leaders are charged with “value stream wide” improvements. BUT all politics is local…
Come along to this common interest work group and share your top tricks for navigating this narrow path. And yes, there are many techniques to learn, like:
- Coaching for Development
- Leading by “Questioning Around”
- Taking over the company’s measurement system (what you measure you will improve)
- Skip-level-up and skip-level-down improvements
- Steering teams
- Kaizen events
Follow this link for SIRF’s Coaching for Development method, as a sample of some of the things we might be talking about. And then book your place so you can share your top tips and learn from others what theirs are!
This event will take place online.
