    SITE VISIT: About the Project

Join the NZIQS on a site visit to the New Wellington City Mission Community Hub - Whakamaru. This is the biggest initiative since the organisation began 120 years ago, and will provide the City with a new 24/7 residential and community services hub. Set to open in 2024, the complex will provide transitional accommodation with 35 residential apartments, made up of 30 studio units and 5 2-bedrom units. Outside of accommodation, residents and the wider community will have access to a range of services. This includes a social supermarket, a commercial laundry facility, 24hr access to toilet and shower facility, a medical facility, a Sacred Space and a large public café that will seat 120 people.

Funded with extensive fundraising and donations, the build is currently under construction by Naylor Love. The concrete work is complete and the unique lightweight steel framing and CLT flooring is progressing well. This project has been executed with a fully federated model, an initiative lead by Naylor Love.

POST EVENT: Presentation at The Basin on The Use of Digital Technology in Construction

Following the site visit, there will be a CPD Presentation at The Basin on The Use of Digital Technology in Construction with emphases on this project. This will showcase some of the technology employed for this build – from the coordinated model to the use of a VR Headset. You will also hear from the City Commissioner, Murray Edridge, along with the lead consultants and the build team. Nibbles and refreshments will be available.
