Make it Yourself Slow Stitch Bag Workshop
Event description
Join artist and Make Space collective member Amanda Donohue to learn how to upcycle your fabric scraps to create a cute little drawstring bag to hold your precious items, sewing stuff, travelling essentials and more. Amanda will talk you through composition, a range of stitches including Japanese Boro stitching, different materials and threads, all in a relaxed setting. Discover the therapeutic joy of working with needle , thread and textiles. By the end of the workshop you will have learnt valuable skills and created your own beautiful unique bag.
Aimed at anyone aged 18 years and above.
All materials and tools provided to create a beautiful drawstring bag (finished size approximately 14x17cm), plus light refreshments including a glass of bubbles.
Bookings essential as places are limited. Minimum of 3 participants for the workshop to proceed.
This course is perfect for beginners. No experience is needed.
Price is $90 per person and includes all materials, use of necessary equipment and light refreshments.
About your tutor:
Amanda studied at Sydney College of the Arts graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours). She also has a Graduate Certificate in Cross Disciplinary Art & Design from the College of Fine Arts (UNSW). Amanda has been a practicing artist for over twenty years, is an active member of the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, a member of the Make Space collective and exhibits widely.
