About the Series & Who should attend:

This 3 part workshop series will give you a 'sample' of Social Role Valorization (SRV) theory and its use and relevance in your own life and work.

This series is highly useful for anyone involved in the lives of someone who might be marginalized from society such as people with disabilities, older adults, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, refugees, people with a mental health condition, or homeless people, etc.

The workshop is designed for paid workers such as support workers, coordinators, serivce managers as well as family members, people with disabilities, or from any of the above groups.

Participants will be people who are looking for ways of meeting the real needs of marginalized people, resulting in better lives. Following this workshop it is highly encouraged that you attend an SRV 2 Day Workshop taught by a Senior Trainer such as this one in March (there will be another one coming up in July 2021):

After participating in this series, learners will:

      1. Understand social devaluation and how it is formed and maintained (unconsciousness) and identifying what can happen to devalued people as a result.

      2. Explain Wounds and wounding experiences and more robust “better” alternatives.

      3. Examine what happens as a result of wounding experiences including how they have led to people being excluded from their community.

      4. Compare and contrast their life experiences (life-shaping experiences, wounds) with the life of someone of a similar age/gender/culture who is devalued.

      5. Propose factors that have kept people (and continue to keep people) excluded from their community.

      6. Propose possible solutions that would likely assist people to be valued contributing members of their community and to offset vulnerabilities to wounding.

      Cost:

      • $195.00 including GST
      • Self or Plan managing your NDIS funding (or attending on behalf of someone who is)? Contact Ricky to discuss prior to registration.
