Supporting Puberty and Adolescence
Event description
Young people with disabilities may require specific teaching strategies when learning about puberty, sexuality and relationships.
This workshop provides practical information for parents/carers, teachers, support workers, and health professionals to support young people in their understanding and experience of puberty.
Topics we cover:
What is puberty and adolescence?
Sex, gender and gender dysphoria
Public and private
Sexual feelings, arousal and masturbation
Menstruation
Hygiene
Best practice approaches to teaching about puberty
This workshop is for parents, carers, students, teachers and health professionals. There is a limit of 3 participants from the same organisation.
This is a full day workshop with coffee/tea and biscuits provided. Please bring your own water bottle and lunch. We have a fridge and microwave that you’re welcome to use.
Please note: if you are a HCC holder 50% of the ticket price ($60) will be refunded on proof of HCC. You can upload a photo of your HCC at the time of ordering for a faster refund.
Our workshops are in person only. Due to a limited capacity within our education team, we are not able to offer online workshops at this time.
