Ukrainian Egg Dyeing-Beginner Level
Event description
Spend a day learning how to create a beautiful dyed egg using the traditional Ukrainian wax-resist method. This is a great way to spend the day with friends or family. There's time for quiet chats while the eggs are sitting in one of the dyes.
No prior egg dyeing or artistic experience required. This workshop is suitable for beginners.
Materials list: All necessary materials will be provided. Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting wax and dyes on. Bring a container to take your egg home. Please bring lunch, snacks, drinks, including your own mug. Don't forget reading glasses, if you need to use them!
Tutor: Dr Tanya Scharaschkin, botanist and artist, has been dyeing eggs using this traditional method for over 20 years, even though she is not from Ukraine! It has been a great source of pleasure for her to be able to share this folk art with Ukrainians.
Conditions: A minimum of 10 participants are required for this event to go ahead. Please do not attend if you are unwell. Notify Tanya if you start feeling unwell in the days prior to the event. Refunds, after the 14-day minimum notice period has expired, will be at the discretion of the event organiser and dependant on your spot being filled at short notice.
