QDA Series: Understanding Thematic Analysis

Take your thematic analysis skills to the next level with this follow-up from the 2022 Understanding thematic analysis workshop! Building on Dr Erin Turbitt's introduction to Braun and Clarke's method, dive deeper into the intricacies of this widely used qualitative analysis approach. In this workshop we will review the basic concepts of Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis method, including its comparison to other thematic analysis methods. We’ll then learn about the latest developments and current thinking in the field and discover tips to avoid common misconceptions.
Learning outcomes:
- Learn how to distinguish between different types of thematic analysis
- Learn about common misconceptions of thematic analysis
- Learn how to avoid common misuses in thematic analysis
- Understand contemporary applications of thematic analysis
This is the second workshop in the Qualitative Data Analysis series for 2023, led by Dr Nick Hopwood and Dr Erin Turbitt. It will be held both online and in-person, and it may be recorded.
