Event description

Urban Analytics returns with its second event, delving into the depths of techno through the unique lenses of the black and Māori diasporas. This evening will showcase artists who have intricately woven elements of their cultural heritage into their music.

Featuring:

- T-N
- Tamba
- Atarangi B2B CaucasianOpportunities

Each artist brings a distinct perspective shaped by their upbringing. T-N, a Naarm (Melbourne)-based DJ, started her career in London and has played across the UK and Europe, including sets for Rinse FM and at venues like Mala Junta. Her sound revolves around rolling rhythms, psychedelic textures, and emotive melodies, creating an evolving, trance-driven experience.Β

Tamba, hailing from Harare, Zimbabwe, blends his Southern African heritage with global afro-diasporic sounds, R&B, hip-hop, and pop. His sets, rich in percussion, reimagine the dancefloor with everything from afrohouse and amapiano to footwork and trap.Β

Atarangi, influenced by the queer underground scene from Aotearoa to New York City, crafts high-energy, reactive sets that meld techno with jersey club, ballroom, and percussive hard drum. As a staple in the ballroom community and co-runner of the Tāmaki Makaurau-based queer club night NYMPHO, Atarangi’s sound champions sexual liberation and gender euphoria.Β

CaucasianOpportunities, a Naarm-based DJ and event curator, brings an eclectic sound reflecting her diverse upbringing, blending heavy bass lines with the rhythms of jungle, drum and bass, and techno. As a member of the UMAMI collective and founder of Urban Analytics, she creates spaces prioritizing black and brown bodies within electronic music, drawing inspiration from early UK grime, rave culture, and black American ghetto beats.
