The Weekly Psych Session


Event description

Are you interested in improving your well-being and coping skills?

UC Medical and Counselling Centre is running a FREE weekly psych skill workshop for UC students.

Each week one of our Psychologists will work with students on building a new set of skills and the tools to manage a range of challenges students face today – such as goal setting, connecting with others, managing stress, and overcoming procrastination.

The Weekly Psych Session is presented in-person every even week, and online every odd week. Please see the table below upcoming topics and delivery method.

Social Connections - Growing a network
This week we will focus on ways to find sources of friends and build your network with others as well as expanding your internal sense of connection to prevent loneliness and improve wellbeing.  It will be a great chance to meet other students at the start of the semester.

Balancing screen time with wellbeing
Today we will explore the impacts on us of living in a digital era and speak about ways to look after our wellbeing when interacting with social media, gaming, TV etc.

Today we will speak about how to overcome shyness and create and maintain your social connections by initiating conversations and get togethers.

This session will provide a simple formula to assist you in finding ways to speak up for yourself.  It will include opportunities for practice and troubleshooting.

12 SeptRU OK Day
Today we will support suicide prevention by exploring ways to confidently check in with others and support your friends, family and colleagues as they go through life's ups and downs.  We will also talk about self-care in these situations.
