Workshop 3: Practice, film and edit your own vox pop
Event description
Want to create your own short, powerful video that captures real voices and real stories?
JFA Purple Orange is delivering a series of digital skills workshops for people with disability, funded through the South Australian Government’s Digital Inclusion grants program.
During this free in-person workshop, you’ll get practical, step-by-step support to create your own vox pop using just your phone. You’ll learn how to plan a great question, film short interviews, and begin editing your video — all in a safe and supportive environment.
This is Workshop 3 of our Series 2 ‘Creating Vox Pops’ workshops.
What we’ll cover:
Learn what a vox pop is and why it matters
Plan and practise your own vox pop question
Record short interviews with peers around the office
Get tips on filming (lighting, sound, framing) using your phone
Start editing your video using easy, step-by-step guidance
Learn how to write and film a strong intro and outro
Leave with a draft vox pop — or the skills to finish it in your own time
All equipment used will be everyday tools (like your phone). You don’t need any fancy gear — just bring what you have.
This is a small group session with up to 8 participants. You'll get personalised support, time to practice, and plenty of encouragement.
This workshop is for people with disability of all experience levels. Whether you're brand new or have joined our previous online sessions, you're welcome to attend.
Registrations for this workshop close at midnight on Wednesday 21 January, 2026.
