Applying Tuakana-Teina in your practice - Advanced (POSTPONED)
Event description
Please note this workshop has been postponed. Register for another date or see our full calendar of professional learning opportunities for other available courses.
Tuakana-Teina is a traditional Māori cultural philosophy and practice; also literally referring to the relationship between an older and younger sibling or close family members like cousins.
Adapted for adult education, Tuakana-Teina has gained new meanings when describing the relationship between 'experienced-inexperienced', or 'trained-untrained' people. Depending on the context, the educator can become a learner, and at times the learner can assume the educator role.
Topics covered
- The concept of Tuakana-Teina (Older-Younger) as a traditional Māori cultural philosophy and practice.
- How the concept can be adapted for contemporary adult contexts.
