Art Class: Felting (7 - 11)
Event description
Learn to craft cosy and well-dressed felt animals.
This is a skills-based art workshop exploring how to felt. We’ll start with sculpture exercises to warm up, using playdough and modelling clay to practice and understand making 3D shapes. We’ll learn about different felting techniques and tools before moving onto creating our own felted animal, with close guidance from our teaching artists. Once we’ve felted our animal, we’ll have a chance to create simple costumed elements, including vests, capes, and bags.
This workshop is designed for young artists aged 7 - 11. We have two teaching artists in every workshop and cap participants at 15 students, meaning there is plenty of one-on-one support.
To note:
- Parents/guardians will be asked to sign children in upon arrival and provide a contact number for the day. Children must be picked up from the workshop by a parent/guardian.
- This workshop utilises felting needles, which are sharp. Children will be given instructions on how to use felting needles, making sure their hands are out of the way of the sharp end.
- Art making is messy! Please wear clothes that are not precious.
- Snacks are welcomed.
