No project is immune to disputes arising. Selecting the best process and preparing for your role will help you overcome the pitfalls. In this session, Heidi will demystify the most common dispute resolution processes in New Zealand, expand on the role of the factual and expert witnesses and provide you with practical guidance to make the experience as stress-free as possible.
About the Presenter:
Heidi van Eeden is a Registered Quantity Surveyor who has worked across many sectors of the construction industry in South Africa, Ireland and New Zealand for the last 27 years. Their passion is raising awareness and the quality of expert witnessing in New Zealand, and mentoring others to increase the number of experts to assist construction disputants. Heidi has acted as an expert witness in over 300 disputes, including mediations, arbitrations and adjudications and in proceedings in the District and High Courts, the Weathertight Homes Tribunal, the Canterbury Earthquake Insurance Tribunal and the Building Practitioners Board.
