This event offers a unique chance to walk through the Te Iwitahi Civic Centre — a modern, sustainable and community-focused building — and hear directly from those involved in its development.
• Learn about the vision, challenges, and delivery of the project from Eddie Woothspoon, WDC Manager – Business Support, a key leader in the build.
• Hear about the benefits of becoming a Project Management Institute member by Syed Khurram Iqbal, WDC Manager – Community Infrastructure Projects
• Connect with local professionals and fellow PMI members over drinks and snacks.


About the Presenters:

Eddie Wotherspoon is Business Support Manager at Whangārei District Council. With a background in commercial banking and people & capability, Eddie brings a strong mix of financial insight and organisational leadership to his role.
In his work at WDC, he has been involved in delivering landmark projects such as the new $59 million Te Iwitahi Civic Centre, where he emphasised sustainable design principles and energy efficiency measures.
Eddie is committed to building resilient, sustainable community infrastructure and supporting effective business processes that serve both council and the community.
Syed Khurram Iqbal is Community Infrastructure Manager at Whangārei District Council and a senior professional with over 20 years’ global experience across government and industry. He contributes internationally through PMI as PMO Circle Coordinator, Judge for the PMI PMO of the Year Awards 2025, and past Chair of the Hawke’s Bay Chapter. A Fellow Chartered Project Professional and Chartered Professional Engineer, he is committed to advancing delivery excellence and strengthening Asia-Pacific leadership in the global project management community.
