Eco Earrings Workshop
Event description
Create dazzling metal eco earrings with eco jeweller Sue Garrard.
Using pre-cut metal shapes you will design the layout of your earrings and then learn stamping techniques to add pattern and texture to your metal pieces.
There will be an opportunity to learn to safely drill holes in the metal to connect your pieces. Once patterning is completed you will clean and connect your metal pieces to create a finished pair of earrings.
Sue keeps her workshop participant numbers small, making it easier for her to give you her undivided attention, so depending on the complexity of your design, you may get to complete 2 sets of earrings.
About the facilitator
Sue Garrard is a South Australian artist practicing in the areas of jewellery, printmaking, and sculpture.
Her work focuses on sustainability and challenges society’s perceptions of preciousness.
Using reclaimed and recycled materials enables Sue to balance her desire to create with a practice that treads lightly on the planet and sparks conversations about sustainability and our relationship with materials.
Sue believes workshops are where this dialogue becomes hands-on. It’s a chance to challenge ideas about what’s “precious” and show how beauty and sustainability can coexist.
Seeing participants discover the potential in something overlooked is incredibly rewarding.
