Build on your teaching strategies from our Introduction to the Pacific Cultural Centeredness Pathway course to understand how to utilise the learning va or sacred space between educator and Pacific learner.

Course outline

This course includes two online workshops, and an optional, four-week, facilitated support module. The module takes a minimum of 1-2 hours of engagement per week.

Participants will have the opportunity to practise and reflect on the new learning and exchange experiences and ideas with each other and the facilitator.

Topics covered

The course covers:

  • the unique history, language, migration story, cultural and social structure of seven Pacific cultures
  • a range of approaches to engaging with the Pacific Island learner in a way that makes them the centre of engaging and learning
  • opportunities for practice and reflection on the new learning and to exchange experiences and ideas with other participants and the facilitator. 


Participants can earn Ako Aotearoa digital badges as evidence of participation and completion of course requirements.

If you would like to pay by invoice, before registering, please find out from your finance team:

  • the billing address and the email address you would like the invoice sent to
