Event description

It's time to play! This workshop is all about creativity, exploration, and experimentation. We'll be learning about monoprinting with a gel plate, which is a an experimental process.

Not sure what a gel (gelli) plate is? It's a flexible, reusable surface that is used for monoprinting. The nature of the plate allows us to blend paint, impress patterns, add layers, and make marks before taking a single amazing print (perhaps along with a "ghost print" or two). These prints are perfect for collages, cards, ATCs, wrapping, and more.

This is the second class in a series, but it is still suitable for beginners. We will be reviewing the basics.

Topics include: In addition to a basics review, we'll cover how to create more complex images, including stacking layers on the plate, alignment options, using stencils more intentionally, and how to troubleshoot. Instruction lasts ~2 hours, with another 15 minutes to experiment before cleaning up. Due to the nature of this class, we'll likely create fewer pages than in the Basics workshop, but they will have more depth.

This workshop uses 5x7" gel plates, acrylic paint, and a variety of tools for making marks and patterns. All materials are included.

We will be working with acrylic paint. While not intended to be particularly messy, paint can get on clothing. Participants should dress accordingly or bring an apron.

This class is geared toward adults, but is open to participants aged 13 and above. Participants under 16 years of age must have a registered adult present at all times. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A WAIVER ON FILE. We will have hard copies available on site. Please also refer to our parking and accessibility information.
