Girraween BioBlitz – Saturday Afternoon Reptile Survey

Join Rhett Dodd from Barung Landcare for an afternoon exploring Girraween National Park in search of its fascinating diversity of reptiles.

Girraween's granite landscapes and surrounding woodland habitats provide an amazing variety of places for reptiles to live, bask and hunt. We'll head out into the field to search for skinks, geckoes, snakes, dragons and more, while learning about the species we encounter and the habitats they depend on.

Rhett will share his knowledge of Girraween's reptiles and help participants identify the species we find along the way. Whether you're already a reptile enthusiast or simply curious about the wildlife hiding among Girraween's rocks and woodlands, this is a great opportunity to get out into the field and discover more about the park's reptile diversity.

Please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring plenty of water, as well as sun protection and a hat. The survey will involve walking through natural areas and may include uneven or rocky terrain.

Accommodation: Accommodation is not provided as part of the Girraween BioBlitz. Camping is available at the Girraween Camping Area, but availability is currently limited due to drought conditions, so we recommend booking early. A range of other accommodation options to suit different budgets is available in Stanthorpe and the surrounding area.
