Girraween BioBlitz – Sunday Morning Invertebrate Survey
Description
Girraween BioBlitz – Sunday Morning Invertebrate Survey
Think you know Girraween's wildlife? Look a little closer and you'll discover an incredible world of insects, spiders and other invertebrates living all around us.
Join Dr Ant Rice from Granite Belt Integrated Pest Management for a hands-on exploration of Girraween National Park's invertebrate diversity. The survey will use invertebrates as indicators of biodiversity, helping us build a better picture of the incredible variety of life supported by Girraween's unique granite landscapes.
We'll head out into the field to search for invertebrates and then take a closer look at what we find. Ant will have a microscope set up during the session, with the images projected onto a laptop so everyone can see and learn about the tiny creatures we encounter.
This is a great opportunity to discover a hidden side of Girraween's biodiversity and learn how scientists can use invertebrates to help understand the diversity and condition of ecosystems.
