Learn to Knit
Event description
Always wanted to try knitting but not sure where to start?
Join us for a relaxed, hands-on session at the Ashburton Library and discover the basics of this timeless craft.
In this two-hour class, you’ll learn:
How to cast on stitches
The simple “plain” (garter) stitch
How to create a peggy square or a wristband/ headband
No experience needed — just bring your curiosity. We’ll provide the needles, wool, and step-by-step instruction to get you started. Tea and coffee also provided.
Knitting is not only creative and practical, it’s also a wonderful way to relax and connect with others.
Come along, learn a new skill, and leave with the confidence to keep creating.
Organised by the Ashburton Library and Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and facilitated by volunteers from the Library knitting group. The event is free but you need to register as numbers are limited.
