Understanding Masking: Autism Webinar
Event description
Sometimes, fitting in comes at the cost of being yourself.
For many Autistic children, the pressure to appear ‘typical’ starts early, in daycare, school, or even therapy.
This webinar is for parents and carers who want to better understand masking—when children hide their true thoughts, feelings, or behaviours to fit in. Guest speaker Raelene Dundon, Educational & Developmental Psychologist, delivers a thoughtful presentation based on real questions and common challenges and shares practical strategies to help your child feel safe, understood, and confident being their authentic self.
We explore
What masking is and how it can show up in children
How masking can be mistaken for “good behaviour,” and what might really be going on underneath
How to raise masking concerns with educators and therapists
How to notice the quieter, more subtle signs that your child might be masking
