Legendary New York club DJ and Minimal Wave labelboss 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐚 plays an exclusive Naarm club show for the Now or Never x Miscellania afterparty tonight, supported by local hero 𝐃𝐉 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐢.

𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐚 is best known as the founder of the Minimal Wave record label, carving out its own space for reissues of 80s and 90s minimal synth, coldwave, and new wave marked by a sense of alienation and austere arrangements. She’s inscribed new histories into the canon through her label and dedication to a niche sound that might have been forgotten without her.

Her DJing is incredibly refined, and draws from her work as an archivist and digger. Her RA Mix 2019 exemplifies this, marrying mutant techno with stark minimal synth, EBM, and industrial. She skilfully highlights how fresh these classic 80s records can sound when arranged alongside the contemporary music they’ve influenced; and brings the distinct pop sensibility of many of the minimal wave records into a new context.

Extended 3 hour set from a genuine legend and pioneer and a bucket list booking for us. Feels perfect having 𝐃𝐉 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐢 on support - a trailblazer in her own right, and one of the most skilled and experienced DJs on the circuit.
