Nature Mandalas
Event description
In this free event, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy being in Staveley Forest, finding natural materials to create their own mandalas on paths in the forest. There is also an opportunity for those less mobile to create mandalas on tables, with natural items collected from the forest.
A mandala is a geometric shape that means “circle” in Sanskrit. It is a common design among many different cultures. The circular design is meant to express the concept that everything is connected in life.
This event is suitable for adults and children, so why not come along and get creative! After an introduction to possible materials to use, you will have the chance to make a mandala with other attendees and/ or your own mandalas. Notice colours, shapes and textures of different elements in the forest as you put them together in a pleasing design.
There's no fixed time limit - you can stay as long as you feel like, enjoying the forest and creating mandalas. It's a great opportunity to connect with nature in a lovely calm way.
Your creations will be enjoyed by others at this session as well as those who attend the Staveley Camp Open Weekend, which is on during this time. Feel free to come and stay for the weekend if you'd like to enjoy the forest some more! There is also a Forest Tour happening in the morning you may like to register for.
