Come to Staveley Camp for the day or stay the weekend!

IT IS FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE - just bring your food. 

See this little gem of a camp - enjoy the native forest and the opportunity to help restore & protect it by participating in some forest tasks. If you're not up for helping in the forest, no worries - you can just relax and enjoy the surroundings or join in some of the other things happening.

Activities throughout the weekend

  • Relax in Hammocks in the forest
  • Walk the Nature trails
  • Complete a Nature Scavenger Hunt
  • Play Outdoor Games - Soccer, Kubb, Ladder Golf
  • Enjoy Puzzles, Board Games or your own Crafts
  • Soak up the views, read a book or just be - enjoy some time out 
  • Connect with nature
  • Meet new people
  • Help in the forest - participate in the regeneration of native NZ bush

Saturday March 11th

  • 08.30  Welcome & introduction to the camp facilities etc. Hot drinks available, Mix & mingle
  • 10.30  Forest Tour with gen de spa (Click to register if interested - limited numbers)
  • 12.00  Lunch - enjoy the packed lunch you brought with you
  •  1.30   Nature Mandalas - creative event for all ages (Click to register if interested)
  •  6.00   Shared Dinner - bring something for the BBQ and a salad or dessert to share
  •  7.30   Open Mic / Community Jam - bring along your instrument or just enjoy listening to others make music. 

Sunday March 12th

  • Breakfast anytime (bring it with you)
  • 8.30am  Yoga - with Janet
  • 10.00am Preserving Workshop  (booked out)
  • All morning - help in the forest, make a nature mandala, play a game, relax in the hammocks!
  • 12.30   Lunch & Clean Up
  • 2.00     Farewell from Staveley Camp!

The whole open weekend is free - but if you choose, you may give a Koha (donation) when registering - this will go to Staveley Camp. This is optional. Beds in bunkrooms are available for Saturday night, also campsites for tents or caravansWhen registering choose the ticket that reflects what you want to do - i.e. day visitor, or staying the weekend - needing bunkroom or campsite. 

Anyone can attend. The event is organised by Mid Canterbury TimeBank & Staveley Camp - for the wider community. We welcome TimeBank members, their families and friends, the local Staveley community and anyone from anywhere to enjoy this special place! We would especially love to see people new to New Zealand or new to the area come and enjoy the weekend.

All ages are welcome. Young children are welcome but need to be actively supervised by their caregiver/s. Older children and teenagers will love exploring the forest & hanging out with their friends. They are more than welcome to help out with forest tasks and engage in the activities on offer. For those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility, there will be activities and opportunities for you too. Come along and enjoy - you won't want to miss out! 

Please bring your own food, clothes for all weather conditions (sunhat, raincoat etc.) and if staying the night; your own sleeping bag & pillow. If you'd like to help in the forest, bring garden gloves, sensible shoes, long pants and if you've got them; loppers, a handsaw and/or secateurs. 

Mid Canterbury TimeBank, Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and Staveley Camp are collaborating on this 'Open Weekend' event. We look forward to welcoming you.
