Discover the ancient charm of a Chinese thread box in this welcoming workshop designed especially for beginners! Join us to learn the simple and satisfying art of origami as we fold the fundamental parts of this beautiful and functional box. You'll be guided step-by-step through easy-to-follow origami techniques to create each component and then learn a basic binding method to assemble your unique thread box. You'll be amazed at how simple paper folding can transform into a functional and decorative piece, perfect for storing threads and other small treasures. No prior crafting or origami experience is needed – just bring your curiosity and get ready to create something special with your own hands!
About the Artist: Kathy Burnside
Kathy Shaw Burnside is an artist of many talents. At this time in her journey she's developed from a bookbinding artist into a junk journaling artist. This art form has its roots in bookmaking, and includes recycling and upcycling. The art form encompasses many of the paper arts genres--watercolor, origami, Zentangle, just to name a few. Kathy is passionate about her art, and this really comes through in her classes. Kathy is currently Eno Arts Mill's BIPOC Artist in Residence with her business partner, Neysa Rojas. Together they run Blue Wagon Studios, LLC.
