Phone Photography: Shoot, Edit, Organise & Print
Event description
ReFrame: Phone Photography Course
Dates and program for 2025:
9 August: The power of Composition — Learn it in 2 hours!
Building on our first session, this workshop takes your photography to the next level by exploring the
art of composition. Learn how to use simple guides — like the Rule of Thirds — to bring balance and
intention to your shots. Discover powerful techniques like framing, leading lines, and negative space to
highlight what matters. We’ll also explore symmetry, patterns and texture to elevate your visual
storytelling. Thoughtful editing tips will help you shape your creative vision.
This session also includes an editing session to help you enhance your work!
13 September: The Magic of Macro Photography (clip-on lenses provided)
This session invites you to see your natural world in a wildly different way. Using clip-on macro lenses
(provided), we’ll explore the tiny details that often go unnoticed. There is hidden beauty in the world
around us and we are missing it. You’ll learn how to focus up close, compose thoughtfully, and bring a
sense of wonder to your images. It’s a playful, eye-opening workshop that deepens your creative
observation and sharpens your photographic technique.
This session also includes an editing session to help you enhance your work!
11 October: Make it real! Printing, Framing, and Photobooks
In this session, we move from taking photos to presenting them in various forms: Books, calendars,
and framed prints — giving your images a tangible life. Explore creative ways to present your work,
learn the basics of using an app to make photo books, and discover the joy of making your photos
purposeful. This workshop allows you to create purposeful gifts or just preserving your memories.
Celebrate your images and see your work in a new, meaningful form.
This session also includes an editing session to help you enhance your work!
8 November: Must-Know fundamentals for Creative Photography
This is the first in a six-part series exploring creative phone photography. In this session, we’ll slow
down and learn to really look — noticing light, colour, texture, shape and shadow in the world around
us. You’ll learn basic technical and creative ways to use your phone more intentionally, capture what
moves you, and begin to develop your unique visual style. A gentle, practical introduction for anyone
curious about photography and observation.
This session also includes an editing session to help you enhance your work!
About the course:
Learn how to shoot, edit, organise and print your work...because how we see the world shapes how we care for it.
The essence of great photography is in the story — visual storytelling has strong ties to social and environmental consciousness.
Each month, we will share new techniques to enable you to deepen your storytelling through photography. Each monthly session will involve hands-on photography as well as an editing session where we will ‘develop’ our favourite photo from the session to share on the group's support on WhatsApp.
"You may love to take photos when you travel, or you may love photographing your pets, or enjoy photographing the kids...whatever you love taking photos of, this course will help you immensely!"
By the end of each 2-hour workshop, you will have learnt
Technical and creative tips for visual storytelling,
