Homeschool Nature Learning (Wednesdays)

A living outdoor classroom for curious, self-directed learners

Born Wild Homeschool Sessions are a 4-hour outdoor learning experiences for children aged 0-12, designed to support deep connection to nature, community, and real-world life skills.

Led by experienced outdoor facilitators and overseen by a trauma-informed, inclusive practice educator and ecologist, children engage in rich, child-led exploration where curiosity drives learning and the natural environment becomes the curriculum.

This is a parent stay program, offering families the opportunity to learn alongside their children in a shared outdoor learning community.

TERM DATES: 

14/10/2026 - 16/12/2026 (10 week term)

TIME (multiple options): 

Weds 10:00-2:00pm

COST: (inclusive of all card and booking fees)

Parents Stay (Facilitated invitations for exploration in nature).

1 child $40.50 per session. Children under 3 free with a paying sibling.

Family 2+ children $50.50 per session.

A 10% equity discount is available, no questions asked, for families who need some additional support to attend. Enter EQUITY10 at checkout.

A little more about the program...

A richer kind of homeschool experience

Rather than duplicating home learning indoors or replicating structured lessons outdoors, our program offers:

• extended time in nature for deep, uninterrupted play and inquiry

• real-world problem solving, collaboration, and creative thinking

• opportunities for children to learn alongside peers across ages 0-12

• literacy, numeracy, and scientific thinking embedded through lived experience

• access to tools, resources, and guided nature-based challenges

This is learning through doing, not instruction alone.

Community learning and shared contribution

Because families remain present in the space, we build a shared learning community model.

We invite families to participate in base camp life in ways that align with their skills and capacity. This may include:

• sharing a personal skill, craft, or area of expertise

• tending the fire, water stations, or shared spaces

• supporting mud kitchen, art, or nature play areas

• assisting with rope work, fort building, and camp setup

• supervising tools and supporting safe exploration

This approach helps children experience what it means to be part of a functioning, caring community where everyone contributes.

Skill-sharing community (optional volunteer pathway)

We are actively building a community of skilled contributors and welcome families with experience in areas such as:

• social media and communications support

• accounting, bookkeeping, promotion/sales or financial advisory

• bushcraft and survival skills

• rope work, rigging, pulleys, or outdoor structures (e.g. zip lines)

• woodworking, carving, or tool-based craft skills

• or any other practical, creative, or professional skill you feel could enrich the program

Families who contribute meaningful ongoing support may be eligible for a volunteer-based 30% program discount.

Mixed-age learning ecosystem

Our Homeschool program operates alongside Bush Playgroup (0-5), Bush Kinder (3-6), and Forest School (7-12), creating a connected learning environment where:

• younger children learn through observation and play

• older children develop leadership, mentoring, and responsibility

• siblings can stay connected across programs

• children learn from a wide range of ages and abilities

Each program runs concurrently with its own dedicated facilitator.

Term enrolment (preferred commitment)

We prioritise term-based enrolment, as consistent attendance supports deeper learning, stronger relationships, and a more stable community experience.

Flexible arrangements may be considered where needed, including fortnightly attendance or half-term participation. Payment plans are available on request.

Casual access (no trial sessions)

We do not offer trial sessions. However, families are welcome to attend through our 1 hour Casual Stay and Play sessions where available, which provide an introduction to our environment and approach.

Inclusion and support

This program is designed for children who can participate safely in an outdoor environment with parent supervision. We welcome diverse learning needs and are neuro and gender-affirming.

Attendance & flexibility

We understand that illness, travel, and home learning rhythms vary. Missed sessions can generally be made up within the term or during holiday sessions. We are always open to requests for reduced fees for pre-planned holidays, appointments, fortnightly attendance etc. These need to be communicated prior to the term booking.

Not-for-profit community model

Born Wild Community is a registered not-for-profit social enterprise. All income is reinvested directly into programs, equipment, and accessibility for families.

Programs must meet minimum enrolment numbers to operate. If a program cannot proceed, families will be offered alternative sessions or a full refund of registration fees.

Cancellations and refunds

We are unable to offer refunds for change of mind or partial-term withdrawal. If a place is re-filled from our waitlist, a refund may be offered at our discretion, but is not guaranteed.
