Textiles Mending Group
Event description
Join us for a Monthly Mending Extravaganza!
Do you have a growing pile of clothes and household items that need a little TLC? Are you tired of seeing them go to waste in landfills when they could be given a new lease on life? Look no further! Mend with others and bring along your mending pile, whether it's a beloved sweater or a cherished household item. Join hands with fellow enthusiasts (no experience necessary) to restore these treasures to their former glory.
Each Month will have a focus on skill building that you can join in with if you choose:
May 10 will focus on identifying different types of fabric and how to mend them
June 13 will focus on darning and mastering running stitch for mending
July 12 will focus on blanket stitch an essential for edging, patching and darning
Sustainable Solutions: Together, we're on a mission to keep old clothes and household items in circulation, sparing our planet from unnecessary waste.
Skill Sharing: Each week, our talented facilitator, or sometimes members, will share one specific mending tip that's not only easy to learn but oh-so-satisfying to master.
Handcrafted Connections: We have sewing machines on hand, but encourage hand sewing as it’s better for group cohesion and often superior for most mending jobs.
Entry: Just bring your item to be mended, materials if you wish, and enthusiasm, basic sewing items are available at the group.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to mend, connect, and create sustainable art together. Let's turn the old into new, one stitch at a time. Join us at "Mend and Make Magic" and be part of something truly special.
