Fri, 11 Jul, 9am - 11am AEST

Event description

The morning will feature a short and slow guided bushwalk around Browns Island with Uncle Al from Duduroa Dhargal Aboriginal Corporation who will share his interpretation of the landscape on Browns Island. This Murray River Island is located near Gateway Island between Albury and Wodonga.

With low water levels, we will likely be able to walk across to the island through Wodonga Creek, so you'll need your gumboots! If you don’t have any, Parklands can supply you with a pair. If river levels rise, a Canadian canoe will be on hand to shuttle us across to the island.

When: 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
Where: Park off Bandiana Link, Wodonga then walk 400 m to creek crossing site (see Browns Island walk map).
What to bring: Please wear walking boots or enclosed shoes and carry gumboots for the creek crossing (and perhaps a second pair of dry socks). Consider the weather and please wear a hat and bring a jacket if cool. Bring drinking water and snacks.

This activity is kindly funded by the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust under the Urban Rivers and Catchments Program.
