Winter Solstice Forest Therapy at Alex Forest 22 Jun 24

Price $20 – $32 AUD Get tickets

Event description

Celebrate the winter solstice and the shortest day of the year in nature*

Dedicate the morning of the shortest day of the year to tending your relationship with nature.

This is a guided relational forest therapy group walk at Alex Forest Conservation Park, Sunshine Coast / Kabi Kabi country

If you're feeling brave, bring your togs for a cold plunge swim at the beach afterwards!

Experience forest therapy, also known as forest bathing and nature therapy, in this small group guided session through the hidden sanctuary of Alex Forest Conservation Reserve at Alexandra Headlands.

Forest therapy follows a sequence of activities that awaken our senses and help us develop our relationship with nature, the more-than-human world. It is a simple and down-to-Earth practice that improves our wellbeing, strengthens connection to self, nature and other humans and acknowledges and reveres country.

For more information, including answers to questions such as "What happens on a nature therapy walk?", "Is there scientific proof that it's good for us?" and "What should I wear?!" visit the Held Outside website.

Meeting details and other important information will be shared with registered attendees via email before the event date. Preparation for the experience requires my knowing how many participants are joining in advance, and having your contact details in case of an event cancellation or change due to weather. If you can not book online, please contact Jay heldoutside@gmail.com or 0476 212 616 to reserve a place.

The path at Alex Forest is mostly flat with some trip hazards. You can get there with a three minute walk (on the flat) from the bus stop at the Alex Heads surf club (Alexandra Pde at Alexandra Headlands, route numbers 600, 611, 615, 616, 619 - link to Translink).

Sunshine Coast Regional Council permit: CUL210040

Would you love to do this but prefer to do it in a private group of your own? Check out the Gift cards & private groups page and get in touch to negotiate an event for your group.

*yes ok, the shortest day is actually the 21st June, but people have work, so let's do it on a Saturday. The sunrise and sunset times don't change much over the week around the solstice, so there's no need to get persnickety! Check https://sunrisesunset.willywea... if you don't believe me.
