School’s Out for Summer

Beyond The Bell Juniors is our screen-free school holiday program for children aged 4–6, with smaller groups, a gentler pace and more support throughout the day.

Join us at Balmain Scout Hall from 4–6 January and 26–28 January 2027 for relaxed summer days filled with outdoor play, simple team games, local adventures, imaginative activities and plenty of fresh air.

The program is a particularly good fit for younger children who are transitioning from preschool into Kindergarten, or who are ready for a little more independence but still benefit from a smaller group and a slower-paced day.

Our Balmain Juniors days make the most of Mort Bay, Birchgrove, the Balmain foreshore and nearby parks. Depending on the day, children might be playing Beyond The Bell Bingo, heading out on a scavenger hunt, enjoying park games, nature play, creative activities or short local adventures.

The day is structured, but never rushed. Younger children have more time for free play, lunch, settling in and joining activities at their own pace.

Kids are supported by qualified educators, with a higher staff ratio and a strong focus on confidence, independence, friendships, inclusion and feeling comfortable in a school holiday setting.

Beyond The Bell Juniors gives younger children a fun, active and screen-free summer school holiday experience, while helping them build the confidence and independence that supports the next step into school.

Suitable for children aged 4–6 years.

What a day can look like

8:00–9:00am | Arrival & Warm-Up Check-in, meet the group and get moving with games to start the day.

9:00–10:30am | Morning Challenge Team-based games, strategy challenges and high-energy outdoor play.

10:30–11:00am | Morning Tea (BYO snacks & water)

11:00am–12:30pm | Outdoor Exploration Park-based activities, movement challenges and guided games around Mort Bay and nearby parks.

12:30–1:15pm | Lunch & Reset (BYO packed lunch)

1:15–2:45pm | Afternoon Session Skill-based games, creative challenges and team activities.

2:45–3:00pm | Wind-Down Continued outdoor games — trivia, park soccer, park cricket and other low-key challenges to close out the day.

3:30–4:30pm | Pick-Up Unless booked for Extended Care until 6:00pm.
