School’s Out for Summer

Beyond The Bell is a screen-free school holiday program designed to get kids outdoors, moving and connecting — no devices, just real, active days.

This summer, we’re based across two Balmain locations — Balmain Rowing Club and Balmain Scout Hall. Please check your booking carefully to make sure you’re booked into the correct venue.

Our summer days make the most of Balmain, Birchgrove, Mort Bay and the surrounding harbour foreshore. Depending on the day, kids might be fishing, sailing, heading out on a scavenger hunt, playing Beyond The Bell Bingo, tackling team challenges, exploring the local area or cooling off with a swim at Dawn Fraser Baths.

The aim is simple: keep kids outside, active and engaged, with a good mix of adventure, free play, teamwork and trying something new.

Kids are supported by qualified educators, with small groups, strong staff ratios and a focus on confidence, independence, inclusion and connection.

What a summer day can look like

8:00–9:00am | Arrival & Warm-Up
Check-in, meet the group and get moving with games to start the day.

9:00–10:30am | Morning Adventure
Team challenges, Beyond The Bell Bingo, scavenger hunts, strategy games and high-energy outdoor play.

10:30–11:00am | Morning Tea
BYO snacks and water.

11:00am–12:30pm | Out & About
Fishing, sailing, exploring Mort Bay and Birchgrove, local adventures and outdoor games.

12:30–1:15pm | Lunch & Reset
BYO packed lunch.

1:15–2:45pm | Afternoon Session
Swimming at Dawn Fraser Baths, outdoor games, creative challenges, team activities or another local adventure depending on the day, venue and weather.

2:45–3:30pm | Wind-Down
Lower-key games, trivia, park soccer, cricket, free play and time with friends.

3:30–4:30pm | Pick-Up
