Exhibition Opening | Critical Clay
Event description
Join us at FORM Gallery on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, to celebrate the opening of Critical Clay.
Presented as part of the Wedge Australian Ceramic Triennale 2025, Critical Clay shares hand built and glazed stoneware sculptures, wall works and floor pieces.
In recent times, the term ‘two minutes to midnight’ has been used to highlight the destruction and disaster threatened by climate change and resource depletion. As a timely reminder that the clock is ticking, the artists in this group exhibition, Critical Clay, use humour as well as thoughtfulness to present ceramic sculptures addressing the use of critical minerals.
Tin, lithium and cobalt appear on Australia’s Critical Minerals List, which highlights substances in short supply yet high demand globally. These minerals are used extensively in ceramics as glaze materials, yet their increasing scarcity is driving up prices for individual, industry and community studios.
