New Year Reset Qigong Program: Energising, Rebalancing, and Grounding

4:30pm to 5pm Adelaide time

In this New Year Reset Qigong Program, we honor the vibrant energy of summer in the Southern Hemisphere. This season corresponds to the Fire Element in Traditional Chinese Medicine, representing joy, expansion, and the Heart Meridian. Here's what you can expect from this energising, rebalancing, and grounding experience:

1. Energising: Tapping into Your Inner Fire

  • Summer Qigong focuses on expansive movements and heart-opening exercises to stimulate Qi flow and release stagnant energy.
  • Expect flowing, joyful movements that mirror the warmth and radiance of summer.
  • Breathing exercises will focus on calming the heart and regulating heat within the body to avoid summer exhaustion.
  • You'll feel lighter, brighter, and brimming with natural vitality.

2. Rebalancing: Harmonise Heart & Mind

  • The Heart Meridian takes center stage in summer practice. Gentle Qigong exercises will harmonise the heart’s rhythm, calm an overactive mind, and balance emotional energy.
  • Techniques will focus on transforming agitation into peaceful joy and fostering inner contentment.
  • Cooling breathwork practices will help release excess heat and bring clarity to the mind.

3. Grounding: Stay Rooted in the Present

  • Summer's energy is vibrant and expansive, and grounding practices will help you stay centered amidst the season's outward energy.
  • Focus will be on Lower Dan Tian breathing (energy center below the navel) to anchor your Qi.
  • Gentle standing postures, like Zhan Zhuang (Standing Like a Tree), will deepen your connection to the earth.
  • You'll leave feeling both calm and deeply rooted, ready to embrace the energy of summer without feeling scattered.

4. Seasonal Adaptation: Flow with Summer’s Rhythm

  • Summer emphasises joyful connection, social warmth, and creative energy.
  • Practices will align with this natural flow, supporting your body in maintaining hydration, cooling, and lightness.
  • Learn Heart-Centred Meditations to cultivate gratitude, compassion, and emotional harmony.

5. Mind-Body Integration: Intentions for the Year Ahead

  • Through synchronised movement, breath, and focused intention, you'll create a powerful foundation for your New Year intentions.
  • Mindful reflections and guided meditations will encourage clarity and focus for your personal goals and aspirations.

This Summer Qigong Reset is a holistic and joyful experience designed to help you:

Qigong offers practical exercises that hold the capacity to heal old injuries, release emotional trauma, restore vital energy, and rejuvenate your spirit. Qigong is also a powerful exercise for preventative health care from illness and disease states. White Tiger Qigong combines ancient practices with modern sports science for optimal effect. Dynamic exercises are coupled with rhythmic, deep breathing, and harnessed intention of mind focus and spirit.

If you are unable to attend on the day, the session will be recorded and available via private link until the following session (effectively for 7 days), so you can catch up.

About Your Instructor: You will be expertly guided by Sarah Divine, Senior White Tiger Qigong Instructor, who also holds a master's degree in sport and exercise science. Sarah has been practising Qigong for over 12 years and teaching since 2015. She trained initially with Master Mantak Chia in the Universal Healing Tao Qigong system, and has been studying and training with Master Tevia Feng in White Tiger Qigong since 2016. She is now the most qualified White Tiger Qigong instructor in Australia.

Sarah is a member of the International Institute of Complementary Therapists and Ausactive (formerly Fitness Australia), as well as an associate member of ESSA (Exercise & Sport Science Australia).

Practical Considerations

Please wear comfortable, loose clothing. We either train barefoot, or with flexible thin-soled shoes. Also, make sure that your stomach is not full. I recommend eating at the very latest one hour prior to practising Qigong (and then only a light meal). For a heavier meal, I would leave at least two hours between eating and practice.

You need the space of a yoga mat, plus sufficient space to swing your arms around in all directions. Some of the Qigong forms are walking forms, but these can be modified to do in place if you don't have sufficient space. Please have a chair handy for some seated practice.

If you have any health concerns regarding any part of the practice, please contact me in advance. I am a qualified exercise scientist, but you need to get clearance to exercise from an exercise physiologist or other suitable health professional if you have an injury or a chronic health condition.
