Event description

Sunset Stroll up Maungawhau/Mt Eden

Join the Project Sunrise community for a pressure-free, relaxing sunset walk up one of Auckland's iconic maunga: Mt Eden.

This is an evening version of our Sip 'n' Stroll event: a casual walk and chat with some bonus panoramic city views at sundown!

Our community leaders Vicki and Jenn will meet you at the roundabout at the base of the mountain (exact location on Google Maps here) at 5.30pm. We'll all walk up to the summit together, find a place to sit and watch the sunset (approx. 6.05pm) and then head back down.

What to bring

Usually there's nothing to bring to these events, but the theme on this day of Mental Health Awareness Week is 'Give'. So we'll be doing a gift exchange (kind of like a Secret Santa!)

If you'd like to participate, bring along a small handmade gift.

This should be something you already have lying around at home or will take you no longer than an hour to get together. Think small, simple, easy, and cost-effective!

Here are some ideas:

  • Some fruit, veggies, herbs or flowers from your garden.

  • Homemade jam, pickles, spice blends or jams.

  • Baked goods.

  • A photo frame.

  • A pack of cards.

  • A book you enjoyed reading and want to pass on.

  • Block of chocolate.

  • A cup or mug you don't use much.

  • Any unopened, unwanted gifts or 'as new' / decent quality items that could be given a second home.

We'll put these items into a hat and everyone who donated a gift can pick out something to take home with them.

What if it's raining on the evening?

We'll go ahead no matter the weather. Please join our WhatsApp group to stay in touch with the organisers, as if things are pretty wet/windy outside they will arrange an alternative indoor option.
