Paper Craft Comics with Nina Dakin

It’s time to learn how to make your stories pop off the page. Literally!

In this playful and experimental workshop, you’ll learn simple techniques to make paper craft comics. Fold, cut and assemble your comics in ways that will surprise the reader and reveal new depths to you stories.

Please Note:
Children should not be left unattended at this workshop. If you are a parent accompanying a child you do not need to reserve a ticket, but you do need to stay with your child for the duration of the workshop.

Featuring: Nina Dakin
Nina Dakin is a Western Australian comic-maker, writer, illustrator and storyboard artist. She has a passion for illustration and storytelling, both in animation and comics. She has previously won the comic story award for her comic “The West Coast” in the Best Australian Yarn Competition, 2024, has had multiple works nominated for the Comic Art Award of Australia, and won the bronze Comic Art Award in 2022. Her comic work has been published in numerous anthologies, magazines and most recently the Westerly Journal. Within her story telling, Nina is drawn to whimsical and poetic storytelling focused themes of suburban nostalgia, cultural identity, and the fantastic weirdness of birds.


This event is part of the annual Perth Comic Arts Festival, a completely free to attend, volunteer run celebration of comics, their creators and readers.
