This is a continuing education program for mental health providers focused on the topics of religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and high-control religion. Documentaries, podcasts, and national news stories have brought these topics to the forefront of conversation. Whether you work specifically with religious concerns or not, it's likely you will come across a client who has been impacted.
Religious Trauma: What Is It & How Can I Treat It? offers 6 hours of continuing education credit, approved by NBCC. You may also choose to particpate without seeking CE credit, and will receive a Certificate of Participation. Your investment in this course will provide tools to be more aware of how the impacts of religious trauma and spirtual abuse may present, as well as feel confident in your decisions regarding how to address these presenting concerns.
This program will provide information to assist mental health professionals in evaluating clients’ presenting concerns and assessing for the presence of religious trauma or the impacts of spiritual abuse, as well as provide information regarding evidence-based treatment modalities that are effective in decreasing the symptoms for these clients.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- assess for symptoms related to religious trauma
- differentiate potentially harmful religious practices from healthy spirituality
- identify the impacts of religious trauma on typical human development
- describe effective treatment modalities to address religious trauma
