Description

Shame, the sense of being "wrong" in your very existence, is a driving force behind many systems that rely on power and control to keep people in line.

This continuing education course for mental health professionasls examines examines the impacts on systemic shame on individuals and communities.

In this training, we'll take a look at Diet Culture, Purity Culture, and other systems of shame to learn more about how they function and the long-term impacts the related shame can have on a person's mental health and overall well-being.


Upon completion of training, participants will be able to:

  • Define diet culture and purity culture.

  • Evaluate the presence or absence of systemic shame within a variety of systems.

  • Recognize the impacts of systemic shame in client presentation.

  • Utilize effective treatment methods to reduce the impacts of systemic shame.

Everyone who registers for the training will receive 30-day access to the recordings, provided approximately 48-72 hours after the training ends.

You must attend the live training, and complete the NBCC required evaluation, in order to receive CE credits.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Michelle F. Moseley, LCMHC (she/her) is a licensed mental health counselor located in North Carolina, USA. She specializes in providing trauma-informed and neuro-affirming care with a focus on complex relational trauma, with a particular focus on religious harm. She is also a Body Trust Certified Provider and helps people navigate body image concerns from a weight-inclusive perspective. Michelle brings both her clinical expertise and her lived experience with both diet culture and purity culture to this training.

Michelle F. Moseley Counseling, PLLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7712. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Michelle F. Moseley Counseling, PLLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
