Description

Neurodivergence is a term that covers much more than just ADHD or Autism. The ways that a neurodivergent person experiences religious spaces and structures can feel like both a blessing and a burden. Learn more about these intersections and how they can show up in therapy.

This continuing education course for mental health professionasls examines examines the ways that religious trauma and neurodivergence may intersect with one another.  We will examine how various aspects of religious structures, beliefs, and practices can be both appealing to neurodivergent individuals and can also cause harm to those who do not fit neurotypical expectations.

This training will discuss general concepts of neurodiversity and intersections with religion, We will also focus more specifically on how ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, OCD, and cPTSD intersect with religious experiences.

Upon completion of training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how neurodivergence may intersect with a person’s experience of religion / spirituality

  • Describe how religious trauma may impact neurodivergent folks

  • Identify at least 3 neurodivergent-affirming approaches to treating religious trauma

Any questions or accommodation requests should be directed to Michelle F Moseley, LCHMC via email at owner@michellefmoseley.com
