This continuing education course for mental health professionasls offers an introduction to religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and adverse religious experiences. The is an introductory training and is designed for those who may have little (or no) education / experience around religious trauma.
If you’ve been hearing terms like “religious trauma”, “deconstruction”, or “spiritual abuse” and aren’t sure what they mean or if they might be showing up in your therapy space, this training is for you!
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
Define the terms religious trauma, spiritual abuse, and adverse religious experience
Describe some of the ways that religious trauma may show up in the therapy setting
Identify resources for further learning or for connecting clients with additional supports

Everyone who registers for the training will receive 30-day access to the recordings, provided approximately 48-72 hours after the training ends.
You must attend the live training, and complete the NBCC required evaluation, in order to receive CE credits.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: Michelle F. Moseley, LCMHC (she/her) is a licensed mental health counselor located in North Carolina, USA. She specializes in supporting survivors of religious harm, having worked with 1,000s of survivors in both individual and group settings. She is also the author of two forthcoming texts on the topic of religious trauma, with publication dates expected in 2027. Michelle brings both her lived experience of religious harm and her clinical expertise to this training.
